Pregnancy + Postpartum Playbook Info:
Perineal tearing is common in childbirth and often not severe. However, some women suffer more severe tears involving the anal sphincter muscles. Long term complications of these tears can lead to pelvic floor dysfunction and cause problems such as urinary and bowel leakage, incontinence of gas, pelvic pain, delayed return to intercourse, persistent pain with intercourse, and lack of return to exercise which can be detrimental to a woman’s health. Women can feel embarrassment and strain to their relationships. Recent medical studies have also shown a connection between pelvic floor dysfunction and back pain. These complications can last years or a lifetime. Perineal injuries from childbirth obviously have an impact on quality of life. Through the knowledge gained in Pregnancy + Postpartum Playbook women have the opportunity to change that trajectory.
WHAT YOUR TICKET INCLUDES:
*Educational program in a group setting with demonstration and practice opportunity.
*Private session with a pelvic health therapist to help you understand how to connect to your pelvic floor muscles to ensure that you are practicing correctly.
*Private session with a pelvic health therapist about 2-4 weeks after the class to help you advance with the breathing and pushing techniques to ensure maximum benefit and full confidence for your delivery.
*Private session with a pelvic health therapist after you are 6 weeks postpartum and cleared by your doctor.
*Among the other information included is instruction in perineal massage which has evidence of preventing severe tearing especially in first time moms. The use of TENS for pain control will be covered as well as education in prevention and care of pelvic organ prolapse and abdominal separation (diastasis rectus abdominis or DRA). + More!
