Juneteenth in Jonesboro returns in 2026 for its 9th annual celebration, bringing together residents and visitors for a week of events honoring freedom, history, culture, faith, and community.
This year’s theme, “Rooted in History, Rising Together,” reflects the spirit of Juneteenth and the continued commitment to education, unity, and progress. Throughout the week, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities including live music, educational programs, a community worship service, a community fair, a downtown parade, historical exhibits, a political forum, a Juneteenth kickoff celebration, a fireworks spectacular, and much more!
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, it is recognized as a federal holiday and a time to celebrate African American history, culture, and achievements.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or visiting Jonesboro for the first time, Juneteenth in Jonesboro offers opportunities to learn, celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories with family and friends.
